SEN Teacher - Outdoor Alternative Provision

Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (FY Area) Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum (Daily rate for temp period) Contract: Temp-to-Perm Start Date: ASAP

The Opportunity

Are you a resilient educator who believes that learning happens best outside the classroom? We are seeking an SEN Teacher (Qualified or Unqualified) to lead a small Class of 4 group in a specialised Outdoor Alternative Provision in Blackpool.

This role is designed for a teacher who thrives on creativity and autonomy. Instead of being confined to a desk, you will lead your students through a curriculum rooted in Outdoor Education and Therapeutic Intervention, specifically tailored for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling.

The Role & Technical SEO Keywords

As the Lead Teacher for a small cohort of 6, you will be responsible for re-engaging students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and ASC (Autism) through a kinesthetic, nature-based approach.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Planning and delivering adapted lessons in outdoor settings that meet Key Stage 3/4 standards.

  • EHCP Leadership: Managing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and tracking progress for students with complex learning barriers.

  • Positive Behaviour Management: Using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe, productive learning environment.

  • Mentorship: Acting as a lead role model for "at-risk" youth, focusing on building emotional resilience and EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) support.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education: QTS/QTLS is preferred, but we strongly welcome applications from Unqualified Teachers or Instructors with significant SEN, PRU, or Outdoor Education experience.

  • Experience: A proven track record of working with "hard-to-reach" learners and managing challenging behaviours.

  • Skills: Expertise in ASC/ADHD support and a passion for Outdoor Learning (Forest School experience is a plus).

  • Location: Based in or near Blackpool with the ability to travel to various local outdoor learning sites.

Why Choose This Provision?

  • Innovative Pedagogy: Move away from standard "box-ticking" and deliver education that makes a real difference.

  • Small Class Sizes: Lead a Class 6 cohort, allowing for high-intensity, 1:1 academic and pastoral support.

  • Temp-to-Perm: Secure a permanent role in a growing specialist sector after an initial temporary period.
