Work 2 hours, get paid for 3! Are you an experienced SEN professional looking for a role that finally fits around your own family? We have an immediate opening for a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant at a highly regarded Catholic Primary School in Blackpool.

This role is specifically designed to support a dedicated SEN provision during the busy lunch period, offering a unique "micro-shift" that allows you to be at the school gates for your own children's drop-off and pick-up.

  • Working Hours: 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM (Monday to Friday)

  • Pay: 3 hours of pay for every 2-hour shift worked (to reflect a full afternoon wage).

  • Contract: Term-time, temporary contract.

  • Start Date: ASAP (Pending successful DBS and references).

The Role: Specialist ASD & Communication Support

You will be providing vital 1:1 and small group support for pupils within a specialist provision inside a mainstream Catholic primary. These pupils require a high level of consistency and expert engagement during their midday break.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Complex Needs: Supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), including those who are non-verbal.

  • Communication: Utilising PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices to ensure pupils can express their needs during lunch and play.

  • Behavioural Regulation: Managing sensory overload and providing de-escalation for pupils with high-level behavioural needs.

  • Personal Care: Assisting with feeding and hygiene with dignity and patience.

Requirements: Specialist Experience Needed

Because of the nature of this provision, we require a candidate who can "hit the ground running."

You must have:

  • Proven SEN Experience: Specific experience with ASD and non-verbal communication is essential.

  • Behavioural Resilience: Ability to remain calm and regulated when faced with challenging or distressed behaviour.

  • Childcare-Friendly Mindset: This role is perfect for someone juggling their own childcare, but you must be reliable and punctual for the 11:30 start.

  • Catholic Ethos: A commitment to upholding the pastoral and spiritual values of our Catholic Multi-Academy Trust.

Why Join Tradewind & This School?

  • Enhanced Pay: We value your expertise; that's why you are paid for 3 hours despite being on-site for 2.

  • ASAP Start: We move quickly to get you into the classroom (subject to safeguarding).

  • Professional Development: Free access to 2,500+ National College courses, including Sensory Processing and Advanced Autism Support.

  • The Power of a Trust: Gain experience within a Diocese of Lancaster Multi-Academy Trust, opening doors for future long-term opportunities.
