Location: Preston, Lancashire (PR1 - PR2 area) Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm Start Date: April 2026 (Summer Term)

The Opportunity: Impact the Summer Term

Are you looking for a role with real purpose starting this April 2026? Our partner school in Preston is seeking a resilient and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a Temp to Perm position, designed to give you a full term to integrate into the school community before transitioning to a permanent contract for the new academic year.

You will be specialising in SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) support, working with students who need a consistent, "trusted adult" to help them navigate the challenges of the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 SEMH Support: Act as a dedicated mentor for pupils with complex emotional needs, helping them with regulation and engagement.

  • SEND Intervention: Work alongside the SENCO to deliver tailored support as outlined in students' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).

  • Positive Behaviour Management: Use trauma-informed strategies to de-escalate tension and maintain a calm, productive classroom.

  • Preston Community Impact: Support local young people in building the social skills and confidence they need to succeed.

What We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from Qualified (Level 2/3) and Unqualified candidates with the right "Preston grit."

  • Experience: Backgrounds in youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or previous TA work are highly valued.

  • Specialism: An understanding of SEMH triggers and a passion for supporting students with SEND.

  • Reliability: Since this is a Temp to Perm role, we are looking for someone committed to becoming a long-term fixture in the school.

  • Start Date: You must be available to begin full-time in April 2026.

Why Join Our Preston Team?

  • Pathway to Permanency: Prove your impact during the Summer term and secure a permanent contract.

  • Competitive Weekly Pay: Earn up to £605 per week, paid every Friday (Gross).

  • Professional Development: Access to specialised training in de-escalation (Team-Teach) and Autism awareness.

  • Stability: Consistent Monday to Friday hours (term-time only) in a supportive school environment.
