About the School
Our school is a welcoming Catholic Primary in Blackpool. Whose faith shapes their fundamental belief that each child is unique and loved, and we strive to provide an education that excites and empowers our children to be the best person they were meant to be.
Every element of school life seeks to develop and encourage a strong sense of each child's worth. Our school is a place where we encourage pupils to find and develop their own individual voice and gifts so they can lead happy, dignified, and purposeful lives. In our community, life is for living, and we want all our children to be active in developing their skills within a nurturing, faith-filled environment.
The Role
Our school is seeking a compassionate and dedicated specialist to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 3. Due to a medical condition, this pupil is cognitively recognised at an EYFS Age 2 level and has a verbal word count consistent with a 2-year-old.
This role is a unique opportunity to work within a Key Stage 2 classroom while applying specialist Early Years (EYFS) and SEN expertise. With an EHCP in place, your mission is to ensure this child feels valued and included, bridging the gap between the Year 3 environment and their developmental stage through play-based intervention.
Key Responsibilities
- 1:1 Developmental Coaching: Helping the pupil expand their verbal communication and "individual voice."
- Curriculum Adaptation: Translating Year 3 topics into accessible EYFS play-based activities suitable for a 2-year-old developmental level.
- Phonics Support: Utilising Read Write Inc. strategies adapted for an early-verbal stage to encourage literacy awareness.
- EHCP Implementation: Working closely with the SENDCO and Class Teacher to meet targets outlined in the child's plan.
Requirements & Preferred Skill Set
- Qualification: A recognised EYFS Qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is essential.
- Experience: Proven experience as an SEN TA or Early Years Practitioner, specifically with children who have significant speech and language delays.
- Phonics Knowledge: Experience with Read Write Inc. is highly preferred.
- Communication: Proficiency in Makaton, PECS, or Visual Timetables is highly desirable.
- Attributes: A proactive, patient nature with a commitment to our school's inclusive Catholic mission.
