Full-Time School Caretaker - Secondary Schools (Greenwich)

Are you an experienced and proactive caretaker looking for a rewarding full-time role in education? We are seeking a reliable and skilled Caretaker to work across secondary schools in Greenwich, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of school facilities and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and students.

This is a 5-day per week, full-time position, ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, has strong practical knowledge, and enjoys being part of a school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the general maintenance, cleanliness, and security of school premises

  • Carry out minor repairs, maintenance tasks, and basic DIY

  • Ensure health and safety standards are consistently met across the site

  • Open and close the school buildings, including alarm systems

  • Monitor and manage heating, lighting, and other facilities systems

  • Support with setting up rooms and spaces for school events and activities

  • Liaise with contractors and report any major repair needs

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a caretaker/site manager within a school or similar setting

  • Strong knowledge of maintenance, health & safety, and site management procedures

  • A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills

  • Good communication and organisational abilities

  • A relevant qualification or degree is preferred
