DT Technician - Secondary School - Brent - April 2026 Start - Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Brent seeking a DT Technician to join their Design & Technology department on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting practical lessons and ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment for students.
DT Technician - Role Overview
As a DT Technician, you will support the smooth running of the Design & Technology department across KS3 and KS4. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons
- Supporting teachers and students during workshop-based activities
- Maintaining and organising machinery, tools, and stock
- Ensuring all equipment is safe, clean, and in good working order
- Assisting with demonstrations and practical tasks where required
- Monitoring and managing stock levels, placing orders where necessary
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Supporting with risk assessments and safe working practices
- Maintaining a tidy, safe, and efficient workshop environment
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a school or workshop environment (desirable)
- Strong practical skills (woodwork, metalwork, or resistant materials preferred)
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures within a workshop setting
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage workload effectively
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to support students
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
