Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Finchley seeking a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an ideal opportunity for an aspiring teacher to build confidence, develop classroom skills, and gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant - Role Overview

As a Maths Graduate TA, you will play a key role in supporting students across KS3 and KS4, helping to raise attainment and confidence in mathematics. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students in Maths lessons on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Breaking down complex mathematical concepts into clear, engaging explanations
  • Delivering targeted interventions for students who need additional support
  • Stretching and challenging high-achieving students
  • Supporting with lesson preparation and resource creation
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in lessons

Requirements

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject (Essential)
  • A strong desire to pursue a career in teaching
  • Excellent subject knowledge and confidence in Maths
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and resilient approach
  • Experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
