SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity - Specialist School in Nottingham

Are you an enthusiastic and proactive individual looking to support young people with additional needs? Tradewind Recruitment is working with a specialist academy in Nottingham to recruit a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH), and associated communication difficulties.

This is a full-time role (5 days a week) with a temp-to-perm opportunity, giving you time to build strong relationships and secure a long-term role within a supportive and structured setting.

About the Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils who require additional guidance to engage with learning and manage their emotions within the classroom. The school offers a structured and nurturing environment, with a strong focus on behaviour support, routine, and personalised learning approaches.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
Helping deliver tailored learning activities and interventions
Building positive relationships to support engagement and trust
Promoting a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams

About You
To be considered for this role, you should:

Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
Be resilient, calm, and consistent in your approach
Be confident managing challenging behaviour
Have strong communication and teamwork skills
Have a genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
Hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
