SEND Teaching & Learning Assistant (SEMH Focus)

Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs? We are working with a welcoming primary school that is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching & Learning Assistant to join their team within a specialist SEMH provision.

About the Role:
This role is based within an internal resource base designed to support pupils with SEMH needs. You will play a vital role in helping students manage behaviour, engage in learning, and develop positive coping strategies in a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assist in managing behaviour and implementing intervention strategies
  • Support learning within a small, specialist provision
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and progress
  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver tailored support plans
  • Help create a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills and resilience
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Ability to build rapport and act as a positive role model
  • Team player with good communication skills
