Science Technician (Full-Time) - Secondary Schools | Southwark

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Technician to join a thriving secondary school in Southwark on a full-time basis (5 days per week). This is an excellent role for an experienced individual who is passionate about supporting science education and contributing to a dynamic learning environment.

The Role
As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of engaging and practical science lessons across Key Stages 3-5. Working closely with teaching staff, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, ensuring laboratories are safe and well-organised, and assisting in the smooth running of the science department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for practical lessons
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained, cleaned, and stored appropriately
  • Support teachers and students during practical experiments when required
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, ordering supplies as needed
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
  • Contribute to the overall organisation and efficiency of the science department

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school setting
  • Strong knowledge across one or more scientific disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  • A relevant degree is preferred
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive and flexible approach
