Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Corby
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs within a specialist educational setting.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone with previous mental health experience who wants to make a positive impact by supporting pupils to overcome barriers, build confidence and engage successfully in education.
Main Duties:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
- Help pupils manage emotions, develop coping strategies and improve wellbeing
- Support positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote security and progress
- Work alongside teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver individual support plans
- Use therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches to support students through challenges
- Encourage independence, resilience and positive social development
- Monitor progress and contribute to student wellbeing support strategies
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience working in mental health is essential - this may include roles in youth support, mental health services, residential care, outreach or similar settings
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs or behavioural challenges is desirable
- Understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support emotional regulation
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
- Relevant qualifications in mental health, psychology, education or care are beneficial
