Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Corby
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs within a specialist educational setting.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone with previous mental health experience who wants to make a positive impact by supporting pupils to overcome barriers, build confidence and engage successfully in education.

Main Duties:

Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
Help pupils manage emotions, develop coping strategies and improve wellbeing
Support positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote security and progress
Work alongside teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver individual support plans
Use therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches to support students through challenges
Encourage independence, resilience and positive social development
Monitor progress and contribute to student wellbeing support strategies

What We're Looking For:

Previous experience working in mental health is essential - this may include roles in youth support, mental health services, residential care, outreach or similar settings
Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs or behavioural challenges is desirable
Understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support emotional regulation
A calm, patient and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
Relevant qualifications in mental health, psychology, education or care are beneficial
