Are you a dedicated linguist with a passion for literature and the power of language? Our prestigious Private School in Blackburn is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of English to join our high-performing faculty on a permanent basis starting September 2026.

This role is ideal for a candidate who can inspire students through a love of reading, critical analysis, and creative writing. Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE). The ability to contribute to A-Level English Literature or Language is highly desirable.

  • Literacy Advocacy: Promote a culture of reading across the school and contribute to extracurricular clubs (e.g., Debating, Creative Writing, or School Magazine).

  • ECT Support: Benefit from a structured induction programme, including a dedicated mentor, regular observations with constructive feedback, and a reduced teaching timetable for your first year.

  • Inspirational Teaching: Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages students of all abilities to express themselves clearly and confidently.

Requirements (Essential)

  • Qualifications: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent, with a strong degree in English Literature, Language, or a related field.

  • Candidate Profile: Open to experienced teachers and ECTs seeking a permanent role for the 2026/27 academic year.

  • Safeguarding: A valid Enhanced DBS check is mandatory for this role.

  • Location: Based in or able to commute to Blackburn, Lancashire.
