SEN Teaching Assistant - KS2 (SEMH Specialist)

Location: Leyland, Mainstream Primary School

Contract: September Start

Are you an expert in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support? Have you worked in an Alternative Provision (AP) or a Specialist School? We are looking for a high-calibre Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant to join our KS2 team from September for the academic year.

The Role

This is a critical role supporting a small group of Year 1 children with trauma-related SEMH needs. We need a strong, resilient practitioner who can balance the academic demands of the KS2 National Curriculum with the high level of emotional regulation these pupils require.

You will be a key figure in providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where "brave learning" can take place.

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for a specialist. To be considered, you must have:

Qualifications: Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification

Specialist Experience: Experience in an Alternative Provision (AP), Specialist SEN School, or extensive SEMH experience within a primary setting

Curriculum Knowledge: Strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum to support academic progress

Trauma-Informed Practice: Experience supporting behaviours linked to trauma with empathy, consistency, and firm boundaries

Our School Bio

We are a fully inclusive mainstream primary school with high expectations of both pupils and staff. We foster a welcoming, safe, and disciplined environment where all children, families, and staff are treated with kindness, understanding, and respect.

We believe positive relationships are fundamental to helping children thrive, build confidence, and develop curiosity for learning.

Why Apply?

Competitive Pay: £14.24 - £15 per hour

Impactful Work: Support a vulnerable group of learners through a vital transition period

Supportive Culture: A school community that values curiosity and "brave learning"
