Automotive Lecturer

Location: Northampton | Full-Time | Permanent | September 2026 Start

We're partnering with a well-established further education provider in Northampton that is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Automotive Lecturer to join their team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong industry experience in light vehicle maintenance and repair who is looking to move into education or continue developing their teaching career.

The college is ideally looking to appoint on a permanent basis, although long-term opportunities may also be considered for the right candidate.

Role Highlights:

  • Deliver engaging theory and practical Automotive lessons to full-time students, part-time learners, and apprentices
  • Teach across a range of programmes from Entry Level through to Level 3
  • Support students in developing industry-relevant skills in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair
  • Inspire learners through hands-on workshop delivery and real-world automotive applications
  • Promote high standards of attendance, achievement, and learner progression
  • Contribute to curriculum development, lesson planning, assessments, and quality improvement activities
  • Support students both academically and pastorally to help them achieve their full potential
  • Participate in enrichment activities, open events, and employer engagement opportunities

About You:

  • Qualified teacher or lecturer (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) or willing to work towards a teaching qualification
  • Level 3 qualification or above in Automotive or a related subject
  • Strong knowledge of Light Vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment, electric vehicles, and modern automotive technologies
  • Knowledge of 4-wheel alignment and current industry practices is desirable
  • Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills
  • Passionate about supporting and motivating learners of varying abilities and backgrounds
  • Industry professionals looking to transition into education are encouraged to apply
