Job Description
About the Role
Are you looking for a secure, rewarding role in education that offers guaranteed stability for the upcoming year?
We are actively recruiting a passionate and adaptable Pupil Support Worker to join a highly supportive school community in Blackpool. This is a full-time, fixed 1-year contract spanning the entire 2026/2027 academic year, designed for someone who wants to embed themselves within one school rather than jumping between daily supply shifts.
In this role, you will be a vital pillar of the school's pastoral and academic support network. You will work closely with class teachers and the inclusion team to support pupils who require extra guidance-whether that is helping a child overcome learning barriers, supporting students with mild-to-moderate special educational needs (SEN), or guiding pupils who need an emotional boost to engage with their school day.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils within the classroom, ensuring they understand tasks and stay focused.
Work closely with the school's pastoral and SEN teams to implement individual learning and behaviour plans.
Help build students' confidence, self-esteem, and social skills through targeted nurture interventions.
Assist the class teacher with classroom organisation, creating resources, and managing low-level disruptions to maintain a positive learning environment.
Monitor, track, and feedback on pupil progress, helping to spot early signs of disengagement or learning gaps.
Act as a approachable, positive, and dependable role model for students throughout the school day.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Prior experience working with children or young people in a structured setting (e.g., schools, nurseries, youth clubs, sports coaching, or care environments) is highly desirable.
Attributes: Exceptional patience, strong communication skills, and a naturally warm, nurturing approach. You must be proactive and ready to use your initiative.
Skills: Good literacy and numeracy skills to confidently support pupils with their academic curriculum.
Qualifications: A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant/Childcare qualification is a plus, but we heavily value practical, hands-on experience and character.
Compliance: An enhanced DBS check registered to the online Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one immediately) and solid professional references.
What We Offer
Fair, Transparent Pay: We champion ethical recruitment. You are paid directly to the NJC scale from Day 1, ensuring your qualifications and experience are fairly valued without hidden margins.
Guaranteed 1-Year Stability: A secure contract running from September 2026 straight through to July 2027, letting you build genuine roots in one school.
Work-Life Balance: Working standard school hours (Mon-Fri, approx. 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM), term-time only. Enjoy your evenings, weekends, and all school holidays free.
Local Professional Support: Continuous access to school-specific training (including safeguarding and behaviour workshops) and a dedicated local consultant specialising in the Blackpool market.
