Location: Standish Area
Start Date: As soon as possible (ASAP) or September 2026 for the right candidate
Salary: from £32,916 - £45,350 per year dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM ( Wednesdays staff training)

The Role
They are are seeking a passionate, adaptable, and resilient Teacher of Biology and Physical Education (PE) to join a dedicated team in the Standish area. This is a unique opportunity to deliver a creative and engaging curriculum to students who may have faced barriers to learning in mainstream settings.
You will play a pivotal role in re-engaging students, building strong therapeutic relationships, and helping them achieve both academic success in science and physical well-being through sport.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality Biology lessons up to KS4, ensuring GCSE or equivalent curricula are accessible and engaging.
Lead dynamic PE sessions that promote teamwork, physical health, and emotional regulation.
Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs of our students.
Maintain a safe, calm, and positive classroom environment rooted in relational practice.
Collaborate with support staff, multi-agency teams, and families to ensure holistic student development.
Participate actively in weekly staff training sessions every Wednesday afternoon.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred. A strong subject knowledge in Biology and PE is essential.
Experience: Experience working within an Alternative Provision, SEMH school, or supporting vulnerable youth in mainstream settings is highly desirable.
Skills: Exceptional behaviour management skills built on empathy, patience, and restorative practice.
Attributes: A non-judgemental attitude, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for making a difference in young people's lives.
