Behaviour Mentor - Derby (Primary)

Location: Derby
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: September 2026

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential?

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive school in Derby. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support, helping them engage positively with education and school life.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour intervention support
  • Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Build positive relationships that promote confidence and self-esteem
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to support plans
  • Support attendance, engagement and successful reintegration into lessons

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Background in schools, youth work, residential care, mentoring or similar settings
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • Knowledge of SEND and SEMH needs would be advantageous
