Job Description
About the Role
Are you a sports coach, footballer, rugby player, or high-level athlete looking to channel your leadership and competitive drive into a life-changing career?
We are recruiting an energetic, resilient, and commanding Unqualified Teacher to lead sports, fitness, and outdoor education activities within our Blackpool-based Alternative Provision. Our school supports secondary-aged students who thrive outside the traditional classroom setting and benefit immensely from structure, physical activity, and strong role models.
You do not need Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We value your sporting background, your ability to command respect on the field, and your passion for mentoring disengaged youth over formal teaching qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Practical Sports Sessions: Plan and lead engaging football, rugby, fitness, and team-building sessions that promote physical well-being and discipline.
Behaviour Mentoring: Use the values of sport-teamwork, respect, and resilience-to mentor students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
De-escalation & Boundaries: Maintain strong boundaries, handle challenging behaviours confidently, and use positive reinforcement to keep students on track.
Safety Management: Ensure all physical activities, fixtures, and outdoor training sessions are risk-assessed and delivered safely.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for individuals with a strong physical presence, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with youth. This role is ideal for:
Rugby & Football Coaches/Players: Individuals who understand team dynamics, discipline, and how to motivate people.
Athletes & Personal Trainers: Energetic professionals who can use fitness as a tool for emotional regulation and focus.
Resilient Leaders: Someone with "thick skin," high emotional intelligence, and a calm-under-pressure approach to behaviour management.
Logistics: A full UK driving license is highly desirable (to transport students to local sports facilities using the school minibus).
What We Offer
Competitive Salary: Up to £31,850 matched to your practical experience.
Professional Development: Full training provided, including behaviour management certifications (e.g., Team Teach) and trauma-informed practice.
Excellent Work-Life Balance: Sociable daytime hours (Monday to Friday) with no weekend fixtures or evening training sessions.
A Unique Team Environment: Work alongside a supportive team of sports enthusiasts, youth mentors, and education specialists.
How to Apply
If you are ready to use your sporting background to change the trajectory of young lives in Blackpool, we want to hear from you.
To Apply: Please submit your CV highlighting your sports coaching, athletic background, or experience working with young people.
