Job Description
Are you looking to break into the education sector but don't have formal teaching qualifications? Are you patient, energetic, and eager to help young people achieve their full potential?
We are actively recruiting Unqualified Teaching Assistants to join fantastic school communities across Preston starting in September 2026. This is the perfect entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on classroom experience, whether your ultimate goal is to become a fully qualified teacher, working in SEND, or simply establishing a rewarding career in education.
You do not need prior classroom experience or a standard TA qualification. We value your transferable life skills, work ethic, and ability to connect with children above all else.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in preparing learning materials and maintaining a positive, focused classroom environment.
Student Engagement: Work 1-to-1 or with small groups of students to help them understand lesson content and stay motivated.
Inclusion Support: Provide extra guidance to pupils with additional learning needs (SEND), ensuring they can access the curriculum comfortably.
Supervision & Safety: Support with break time supervision and help maintain the general well-being and safety of pupils throughout the school day.
What We Are Looking For
The Right Attitude: A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to working with children.
Transferable Experience: While prior school experience is a bonus, backgrounds in care, sports coaching, youth work, volunteering, or parenting are highly valued.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and the confidence to manage small groups of children effectively.
Reliability: A dedicated professional who wants to become a consistent, reliable presence in a school environment.
What We Offer
The Perfect Foot in the Door: Earn a competitive wage while gaining invaluable, real-world educational experience.
Professional Development: Access to ongoing training, including safeguarding certificates and behaviour management techniques.
Excellent Work-Life Balance: Standard school daytime hours (approx. 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM), Monday to Friday, term-time only-no weekends or holiday shifts.
Career Progression: A proven launchpad toward securing permanent school contracts or pursuing a PGCE/teacher training route.
How to Apply
If you are ready to launch your career in education this September, we want to hear from you.
To Apply: Please submit your current CV along with a brief note outlining why you are interested in becoming a Teaching Assistant in Preston.
All provisions are strictly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and thorough pre-employment vetting.
