Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School
Location: Doncaster
Start Date: New Academic Year
Contract: Short-Term (Temporary)
Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, Term Time Only)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join one of our valued partnership secondary schools in Doncaster for the start of the new academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential in a classroom environment.
Working alongside teachers and the SEN department, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of learning needs, ensuring they can fully engage with their education and make positive progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in the classroom on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage student participation.
- Help adapt learning resources to meet individual student needs.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents where appropriate.
- Assist with classroom preparation and administrative tasks as required.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience working with children or young people, preferably within a secondary school setting.
- Be patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be confident working independently as well as part of a team.
- Be adaptable, proactive, and able to respond positively to changing situations.
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills.
- Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant or Learning Support qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Have a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
