Teaching Assistant
Are you a graduate with a passion for helping young people succeed? A well-regarded further education college in Hounslow is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting in September 2026.
This is a Monday to Friday opportunity, with working hours of approximately 8:15am to 4:00pm. The role would suit a graduate who wants to gain practical experience in education while developing the skills needed for a future career in teaching, pastoral care, educational psychology or youth support.
The college places a strong emphasis on creating a positive learning experience for its students. You will join a welcoming team where collaboration, student wellbeing and academic progress are central to the work.
About the Position
You will become an important part of the college's wider support network, helping students overcome barriers to learning and encouraging them to participate confidently in their studies.
Working alongside teaching and pastoral colleagues, you will provide support both inside and outside the classroom. This is a hands-on role where you will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with students and gain a genuine understanding of working within further education.
Key Duties
Support students during lessons, helping them understand and engage with their work.
Provide additional assistance to individuals and small groups where needed.
Encourage learners to become more confident and independent.
Help students who may require additional support with their learning.
Assist teaching staff with lesson preparation and classroom resources.
Help maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
Communicate effectively with lecturers, pastoral colleagues and other members of staff.
Act as a positive role model and contribute to students' overall development.
Promote an environment where students feel valued, respected and supported.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
A degree from a Russell Group university.
A strong interest in working within education.
Enthusiasm for supporting and motivating young adults.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A calm, patient and approachable manner.
The confidence to use initiative and adapt to different situations.
Good organisation skills and a reliable approach to work.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
The right to work in the UK.
