Tradewind Education are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of English to join a welcoming secondary school in Doncaster on an ongoing basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced English teacher, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), looking for a flexible role within a supportive secondary school environment.
The Role
As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons across the secondary age range, helping students develop their literacy, communication and analytical skills.
The role is 3 days per week and will continue on an ongoing basis, providing consistency for both the successful candidate and the students.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons in line with the school's curriculum.
- Teach and support students across Key Stages 3 and/or 4.
- Differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
- Assess, monitor and provide constructive feedback on student progress.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage students to develop confidence in reading, writing, speaking and critical analysis.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the wider English department.
- Support students in achieving their academic potential.
- Maintain accurate records of assessment and student progress.
- Attend relevant meetings and contribute to the wider life of the school where required.
Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge across the English curriculum.
- The ability to plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- A commitment to raising attainment and supporting student progress.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A flexible, professional and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
- A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one through Tradewind Education.
