We are working with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Milton Keynes that is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Science Teacher to join its successful Science department from September 2026.

This is initially a temporary full-time position until October half term, with the potential for the role to be extended depending on the school's requirements and the successful candidate's performance.

The role would suit an experienced Science Teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to gain valuable experience within a supportive and collaborative secondary school environment.

The school has a strong focus on high-quality teaching, positive relationships, and student achievement. Students are encouraged to develop their curiosity, think critically, and apply their knowledge through practical investigations and real-world examples.

The Role

As a Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality Science lessons, assessing student progress, and creating a positive classroom environment where students are encouraged to develop their knowledge and enthusiasm for Science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach your specialist Science subject alongside the wider Science curriculum
  • Deliver practical investigations that develop students' scientific enquiry and problem-solving skills
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assess and monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students of varying abilities
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement, and progress
  • Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development
  • Support wider Science, STEM, and enrichment activities where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the wider school community

About You

The successful Science Teacher will ideally have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • A degree in a Science-related subject
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics
  • A genuine passion for Science and a desire to inspire young people
  • The ability to deliver engaging and well-structured lessons
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • A positive, flexible, and collaborative approach
  • High expectations of students and their learning
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
