A number of secondary schools in Northampton are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Curriculum Support Officers to join their teams as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates and individuals with experience supporting young people, including teaching assistants, cover supervisors, learning mentors, youth workers, pastoral staff, or school administrators, who are looking to develop a career in education.

The role combines classroom support with curriculum-focused responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and school leaders while gaining valuable experience of teaching, learning, and day-to-day school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with the delivery of lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Support students with their engagement, understanding, and progress during lessons
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required
  • Prepare and organise lesson materials and curriculum resources
  • Help monitor student progress and maintain accurate curriculum records
  • Support classroom routines and promote positive behaviour and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral, and support staff
  • Contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people in any setting
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Organised, proactive, reliable, and professional
  • Able to work effectively as part of a school team
  • Flexible and adaptable in different classroom environments
  • Interested in progressing into teaching, pastoral, or wider education support roles
