We are currently working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Northampton who are seeking a committed and enthusiastic English Instructor to join their team as soon as possible.
This is a full-time, long-term position running initially until July, with the potential for a permanent opportunity for the right candidate. The role would suit someone looking to gain valuable classroom experience, develop their teaching skills, and make a genuine difference to students' learning and progress.
The Role:
- Deliver engaging and well-structured English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, following established schemes of work
- Support students in developing their reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, and analytical skills
- Adapt lessons and approaches to meet the needs of students with a range of abilities, including those with SEND and additional learning needs
- Create a positive, inclusive, and focused classroom environment
- Encourage students to develop confidence in their English skills and take pride in their learning
- Work collaboratively with the English department and wider school staff to support student progress
- Monitor student engagement and provide useful feedback to teaching staff
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations within the classroom
About You:
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and/or Literature
- Experience working with secondary-aged students through teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or education support
- Confident and capable of leading a classroom independently
- Patient, approachable, adaptable, and committed to supporting every student's progress
- Able to build positive relationships with young people and maintain professional boundaries
- A degree in English or a related subject is desirable but not essential
- A genuine passion for education and an interest in developing a career within teaching
