Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive SEMH setting in the Corby area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in education, psychology, youth work, social care, counselling or mental health support.

The Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who may experience challenges such as anxiety, trauma, ADHD, autism, behavioural difficulties and emotional regulation needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, build confidence and develop positive coping strategies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.

  • Building positive relationships and acting as a trusted adult within the school.

  • Supporting students both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.

  • Encouraging student engagement, independence and personal development.

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams.

  • Promoting a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.

  • Has a genuine interest in mental health, education or special educational needs.

  • Remains calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.

  • Possesses excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Is passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.

  • Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
