We are currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-established and supportive secondary school in Northampton. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity, with an ASAP start available for the right candidate.

This role would be ideal for someone with previous laboratory, science or technician experience who is keen to work in an educational environment and play an important role in supporting the Science department.

About the Role

As a Science Technician, you will work closely with Science teachers to ensure practical lessons are well prepared, safe and engaging for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and setting up equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons
• Supporting teachers with demonstrations and practical experiments
• Ensuring laboratories are clean, organised and ready for lessons
• Maintaining and checking laboratory equipment and resources
• Safely storing, handling and disposing of chemicals and other materials
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies
• Carrying out routine checks and basic maintenance of equipment
• Supporting teachers with practical lesson preparation
• Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times
• Assisting with risk assessments and maintaining a safe laboratory environment
• Helping to maintain an engaging and effective learning environment for students

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in a science, laboratory or technical environment
• Highly organised, reliable and methodical
• Confident working with laboratory equipment and chemicals
• Knowledgeable about health and safety procedures
• Able to work effectively alongside teachers and support staff
• Proactive, practical and able to use their initiative
• Passionate about supporting young people and science education
• Able to manage their workload and prioritise tasks effectively

A science degree, laboratory experience or previous Science Technician experience would be advantageous.

Previous experience working within a secondary school is desirable but not essential, and candidates with relevant laboratory or scientific experience are encouraged to apply.
