Teaching Assistant - SEND Unit
Location: Hyde, Tameside
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Hyde, working within their dedicated SEND unit.
This is a full-time, long-term position supporting pupils with complex SEND needs, including challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will have experience working with children on a 1:1 basis and be confident providing tailored support to meet individual needs.
The Role:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils within the school's SEND unit.
- Supporting children with complex SEND needs, including challenging behaviour.
- Helping pupils to engage with learning and develop their social, emotional and communication skills.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SEND team and other professionals to provide consistent support.
- Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour throughout the school day.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within a specialist setting or SEND unit.
- Experience working with children on a 1:1 basis.
- Confident and experienced in supporting challenging behaviour.
- Calm, patient and consistent in their approach.
- Team Teach qualification is highly desirable, although not essential.
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous.
