Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for confident and engaging Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Daventry and the surrounding areas. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with strong coaching, mentoring, youth work or relationship-building skills who are confident engaging young people and creating a positive classroom environment.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will support classes when their usual teacher is absent. You will follow the lesson plans and resources provided by the school, supervise students and help keep them focused and engaged with their work.

The Role

• Supervising secondary school classes during teacher absence and ensuring students remain engaged with their work.
• Following lesson plans and instructions provided by teaching staff.
• Building positive relationships with students and encouraging them to participate in lessons.
• Managing classroom behaviour calmly and confidently.
• Supporting students to stay focused, complete their work and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Liaising with teaching staff regarding the progress and behaviour of students.

Who We're Looking For

You do not necessarily need previous experience as a Cover Supervisor. We are keen to speak with people who have transferable experience working with young people and can demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Your background could include coaching, sports, youth work, mentoring, tutoring, outdoor education, childcare or other roles involving young people. The key is being confident, approachable and able to establish positive boundaries with students.

You should be comfortable taking responsibility for a classroom, giving clear instructions and responding appropriately to different behaviours and situations.
