Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term (with potential to become permanent)
Salary: £100-£160 per day (depending on experience and level of school support)

We are partnering with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Northampton that is seeking a committed Unqualified English Teacher to join their English department as soon as possible.

This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, tutors, Teaching Assistants, or individuals with strong English subject knowledge who are keen to develop their classroom skills and take their first steps into education.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers, develop your confidence in the classroom, and gain valuable experience that could support your progression towards future teacher training.

The Role

  • Deliver structured and engaging English lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and 4

  • Support pupils in developing their literacy, comprehension, and analytical abilities

  • Encourage students to engage with a wide range of texts and build confidence in their writing

  • Maintain a focused, positive, and purposeful classroom environment

  • Tailor your approach to support students with varying abilities and learning needs

  • Work closely with experienced teachers to develop your classroom practice

  • Support students with their progress and provide appropriate encouragement

  • Contribute to departmental activities and the wider school community

  • Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times

About You

  • A degree in English, Literature, or a related subject, or strong English subject knowledge

  • Experience working with young people is advantageous but not essential

  • Confident communicator with the ability to lead and engage a classroom

  • Organised, adaptable, and willing to learn

  • Passionate about English and education

  • Interested in progressing into a long-term career in teaching

  • Considering future routes such as PGCE, SCITT, or teacher apprenticeships

  • Able to build positive relationships with students and staff

  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for one
