We are partnering with a thriving and inclusive secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of English to join their team immediately.

This full-time opportunity is available on either a contract or permanent basis and would suit both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to develop their teaching career within a supportive school community.

The Role

As a Teacher of English, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and well-planned English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 teaching available for suitable candidates

  • Foster a love of reading through a broad range of classic and contemporary literature

  • Develop students' writing, analytical, and communication skills through creative and challenging lessons

  • Differentiate learning to ensure every student can achieve their potential, including those with SEND and EAL needs

  • Create a positive classroom environment where curiosity, discussion, and independent thinking can flourish

  • Assess student progress effectively and provide constructive feedback to support achievement

  • Build positive relationships with students and maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning

  • Play an active role within the English department and contribute to enrichment opportunities and the wider life of the school

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

  • Has excellent subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for English Language and Literature

  • Delivers engaging lessons that motivate and challenge students of all abilities

  • Has strong classroom management skills and consistently high expectations

  • Is confident adapting lessons to meet the needs of different learners

  • Enjoys working cooperatively with colleagues and is committed to continuous professional development

  • Is an ECT or experienced teacher looking to make a positive contribution within a supportive school

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
