Job Description

Motor Vehicle Teacher - SEN School - Milton Keynes

Location: Milton Keynes
Position: Motor Vehicle Teacher
Type: Full-time
Potential: Temp-to-perm opportunity
Agency: Tradewind Recruitment

Tradewind Recruitment are currently supporting a SEN secondary school in Milton Keynes who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and engaging Motor Vehicle Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis.

The school supports secondary-aged students with a range of Special Educational Needs and SEMH needs and provides a more practical and individualised approach to learning. They are looking for someone who can use their knowledge and experience within Motor Vehicle to engage students who may not always thrive within a traditional classroom environment.

This role would suit someone with a background in Motor Vehicle, Automotive Engineering, Vehicle Maintenance or a related practical field, who has a genuine interest in working with young people. Previous teaching experience would be beneficial, but the school will also consider candidates with strong industry experience and the ability to engage and build positive relationships with students.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering practical and engaging Motor Vehicle lessons to secondary-aged students, helping them develop both their practical skills and wider employability skills.

You will be expected to:

  • Plan and deliver practical Motor Vehicle lessons suitable for students with a range of SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Teach students relevant vehicle maintenance, repair and workshop skills.
  • Adapt activities and your teaching approach to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Demonstrate practical techniques and ensure students understand safe working practices.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students and encourage them to engage with their learning.
  • Support students to develop confidence, independence, teamwork and employability skills.
  • Maintain clear expectations around behaviour, safety and workshop procedures.
  • Work closely with support staff and the wider school team to help students make progress.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have strong Motor Vehicle knowledge and practical experience, with the ability to confidently demonstrate and teach relevant skills.

Experience working with SEN, SEMH or young people with challenging behaviour would be advantageous, but is not essential. The most important qualities are patience, enthusiasm, resilience and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

You should be confident working in a practical environment and able to create structured, engaging sessions that give students the opportunity to develop skills they can use beyond the classroom.

Why Work with Tradewind Recruitment?

  • Full-time position within a supportive SEN secondary school.
  • Potential opportunity to move from temporary to permanent employment.
  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Free CPD and training through the National College.
  • Dedicated support from your Tradewind consultant.
  • Opportunity to develop your experience working within SEN and SEMH education.
  • A practical role where you can make a genuine difference to students who may thrive through vocational learning.

If you have a Motor Vehicle or Automotive background and are passionate about using practical education to engage young people, we would love to hear from you.
