Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Northampton

Pay: Dependent on experience

We are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to gain valuable experience within a primary school setting.

You will work alongside class teachers and the wider school team, providing classroom support and helping pupils access learning in a positive and inclusive environment.

The Role

  • Support pupils with their learning across the primary curriculum

  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging classroom activities

  • Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups where required

  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive learning habits

  • Support children with SEND and additional learning needs

  • Encourage positive behaviour and maintain a calm learning environment

  • Prepare and organise classroom resources and activities

  • Build positive relationships with pupils and provide consistent encouragement

  • Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to the class teacher

  • Work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and families

About You

  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with children

  • Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils

  • Reliable, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team

  • An interest in education, childcare, SEND, or supporting children's development

  • Comfortable supporting pupils with a range of abilities and needs

  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
