Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a caring, patient and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN setting in Milton Keynes.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), complex needs and physical or medical requirements.

The Role

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other members of the support team to help pupils access learning, develop communication and build independence.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
  • Supporting pupils with communication, sensory, physical and medical needs.
  • Assisting with personal care where required.
  • Supporting pupils with mobility, positioning and moving and handling, following appropriate training and guidance.
  • Helping pupils access classroom activities and individual learning programmes.
  • Supporting communication through appropriate strategies and resources.
  • Creating a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and participation.
  • Following safeguarding, health and safety and school policies.

Previous experience within PMLD, SEND, autism, complex needs, healthcare, personal care or a similar support environment would be beneficial.

We are also keen to hear from care workers and support workers who have experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities, medical needs, mobility requirements or personal care, as these skills can transfer well into a specialist education setting.
