Mental Health Teaching Assistant - Corby

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school setting in Corby. The Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support. You will play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop positive relationships, and engage successfully with their education.

This role would suit candidates with experience in education, care, youth work, support work, mental health services, or anyone looking to gain valuable experience before pursuing a career in teaching, psychology, counselling, or social work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Help students regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
  • Support learning and engagement within the classroom.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support individual student needs.
  • Assist with implementing behaviour and support plans.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience working with young people, ideally within education, care, youth work, or support settings.
  • Has a genuine interest in mental health and supporting vulnerable students.
  • Demonstrates patience, resilience, and empathy.
  • Can build strong relationships and act as a positive role model.
  • Is confident supporting students with challenging behaviour and additional needs.
  • Holds a DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
