Mental Health Teaching Assistant - North Northamptonshire
Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the North Northamptonshire area.

The Role
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will support students who may be experiencing social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to help students engage with their learning, build confidence and develop positive coping strategies.
This role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about making a difference to young people's lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students.
- Support pupils with their emotional wellbeing and mental health needs.
- Help students develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
- Encourage engagement with learning and school life.
- Support behaviour management strategies within the classroom.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams.
- Promote a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with children or young people.
- Has a genuine interest in mental health and wellbeing.
- Is patient, empathetic and resilient.
- Can build positive relationships and act as a positive role model.
- Is confident supporting students who may present challenging behaviours.
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Holds a DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
