Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP / January 2027

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a compassionate and resilient Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in the Corby area. This rewarding role involves supporting students who may face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, helping them to engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

This position would be ideal for individuals with experience in education, youth work, support work, psychology, counselling, or care settings who are looking to make a meaningful difference in young people's lives.

The Role:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

  • Supporting students to regulate emotions and engage positively in learning.

  • Encouraging confidence, resilience, and independence.

  • Assisting with behaviour management strategies and pastoral support.

  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to support student progress.

  • Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals.

  • Has a strong understanding of mental health, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour support.

  • Is patient, empathetic, and resilient.

  • Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one through Tradewind Recruitment.
