1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Stockport

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child with complex needs at a primary school in Stockport.

This is a long-term, full-time position and would suit a dedicated Teaching Assistant who has strong SEND experience and is confident supporting children who may present with challenging or complex behaviours.

The Role

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with complex needs.
  • Supporting the child's educational, social and emotional development.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
  • Helping the child access learning and participate positively in school life.
  • Supporting with behaviour regulation and maintaining a calm, structured environment.
  • Building a strong and trusting relationship with the child.
  • Using appropriate strategies to support the child's individual needs and promote positive behaviour.
  • Maintaining consistency and providing encouragement throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND is essential.
  • Team Teach training is essential.
  • Experience supporting children with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
  • Must be resilient, patient and committed to the role.
  • Able to remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop a positive rapport and trusting relationship with the child.
  • Confident working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Reliable, proactive and committed to supporting the child's long-term development.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
