Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join an all-through SEN school in North Northamptonshire, supporting students across the school with their day-to-day learning, development and wellbeing.

The school caters for students with a range of additional needs, including high-functioning autism and physical disabilities, meaning that the support required can vary considerably from student to student. This could include supporting communication and engagement in lessons through to providing physical support and personal care where required.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or someone with a relevant care or support background who is looking to develop their experience within a specialist school environment.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other members of the support team to provide students with the individual support they need throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting students with their learning and engagement across the curriculum.
• Providing communication support and helping students to express their needs.
• Supporting students with autism and adapting your approach to suit individual needs.
• Providing physical support to students with disabilities where required.
• Supporting with personal care where necessary.
• Encouraging students to develop independence and confidence.
• Helping students to manage transitions and daily routines.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Working alongside teachers and other professionals to ensure students receive consistent support.
• Supporting students' social and emotional development and helping them to participate fully in school life.

About You

The school is looking for someone who is patient, caring, reliable and adaptable, with a genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs.

Previous experience working within a SEN school, mainstream school, care setting or similar support environment would be beneficial. Experience supporting students with autism, physical disabilities, communication needs or personal care would also be advantageous.

You will need to be comfortable adapting your approach depending on the needs of the individual students you are supporting. Most importantly, you will have a calm and nurturing approach, with the ability to build strong relationships and encourage students to reach their potential.
