Tradewind Recruitment is working with a specialist SEN school in Stockport that caters for pupils aged 11-16 and is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.

This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and associated learning difficulties. Working closely with teaching staff and Speech and Language Therapists, you will help students develop their communication skills, confidence and independence both inside and outside of the classroom.

The Role

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with speech, language and communication needs.
• Support the implementation of Speech and Language Therapy programmes and interventions.
• Encourage the development of functional communication skills using a range of communication methods and resources.
• Help students access learning across the curriculum.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals to support individual learning targets.
• Foster a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Promote students' social, emotional and communication development.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism and communication needs.
• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• An interest in speech and language development or therapeutic approaches.
• Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
• A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential.
