Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a supportive educational setting in Coby. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient and committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will help create a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where students can thrive.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students

  • Building positive relationships and acting as a trusted adult

  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and wellbeing

  • Encouraging engagement in learning and school activities

  • Assisting students who may display challenging behaviour

  • Implementing behaviour and support strategies set by the school

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEMH, SEND and anxiety-related difficulties

  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals to support student progress

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults

  • Have a genuine interest in mental health, wellbeing and education

  • Are calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations

  • Can build strong professional relationships with students

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Are passionate about helping young people reach their potential

Experience within education, youth work, residential care, support work, mental health services, SEND or SEMH settings would be highly beneficial, although not essential.
