Are you an experienced School Business Manager looking for your next opportunity? We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of our valued education partners in Northampton for an experienced and dedicated School Business Manager to join a growing specialist school on a fixed-term basis until July.

As an education recruitment agency supporting schools across Northampton and the surrounding areas, we work closely with a wide range of primary, secondary, specialist and SEN settings to connect talented professionals with rewarding career opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, welcoming specialist school where you will play a key role in supporting its day-to-day operations and continued development.

The successful candidate must have previous experience working as a School Business Manager or in a senior school business support role. You will have a sound understanding of school finance, budgeting, HR processes, compliance, premises management and operational leadership within an educational setting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the school's finances, budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Overseeing procurement and ensuring value for money across all services.
  • Leading HR administration, recruitment, contracts and personnel processes.
  • Managing health and safety, compliance and statutory requirements.
  • Overseeing premises, facilities and operational services.
  • Supporting the Headteacher with strategic planning and business operations.
  • Managing and developing administrative and support staff.
  • Ensuring the smooth and effective day-to-day running of the school.

The role is largely site-based, with the school able to accommodate 1-2 days of home working per week, where appropriate. The working hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, proactive and an excellent communicator, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards. You will be confident working collaboratively with senior leaders, staff, external stakeholders and other professionals.

In return, you'll have the opportunity to join a supportive and dedicated school community where your expertise will make a genuine difference. Our team will support you throughout the recruitment process and help ensure a smooth transition into your new role.
