Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Corby, working with young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about mental health, behaviour and wellbeing and wants to develop their experience within an educational setting.

About the Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, emotional wellbeing and independence.

You will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and become a consistent source of support.

• Help pupils develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies.

• Support students who may experience anxiety, emotional difficulties, challenging behaviour or low confidence.

• Encourage pupils to engage positively with learning and school life.

• Support behaviour using calm, consistent and positive approaches.

• Help students develop resilience, independence and self-esteem.

• Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider support team.

• Help create a safe, calm and nurturing environment where pupils feel supported.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone who is patient, empathetic, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting young people's mental health.

Previous experience in a school is beneficial but not essential. We would love to hear from candidates with backgrounds such as:

• Mental health support

• Psychology or counselling

• SEMH/SEND

• Youth work

• Residential childcare

• Care or support work

• Behaviour support

• Sports coaching or mentoring

• Education

• Community or family support

You will need to be confident building relationships with young people, remain calm in challenging situations and have a genuine desire to help pupils overcome barriers and reach their potential.
