Assistant IT Manager - Primary School Trust

IMPORTANT: Previous school-based IT experience is MANDATORY for this position. Candidates without experience working in a school/education setting will not be considered.

Salary: £34,500 - £36,500 per annum
Location: Bolton & Bury, with remote support to Halifax
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting for an Assistant IT Manager to join a successful Multi-Academy Trust supporting six primary schools across Bolton, Bury and Halifax.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced school IT professional who is ready to progress into a more senior position and take on additional responsibility for infrastructure, systems and the wider IT support function.

Working alongside the Trust's IT Manager, you will help ensure that technology across the schools is reliable, secure and fit for purpose. You will combine hands-on technical support with responsibility for assisting and mentoring IT support colleagues across the Trust.

The role will also involve supporting the Trust's Bromcom MIS, ensuring staff can use the system effectively and assisting with administration, troubleshooting and system updates.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing IT support across multiple primary school sites.
• Supporting and maintaining Windows Server environments.
• Managing and troubleshooting Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
• Supporting switches, wireless networks and general network connectivity.
• Administering and troubleshooting Bromcom MIS.
• Resolving hardware, software and network-related issues.
• Assisting with IT installations, upgrades and technology projects.
• Supporting and mentoring school-based IT Technicians.
• Helping maintain high standards of IT security and compliance.
• Working with the IT Manager to improve IT services across the Trust.
• Managing competing priorities across multiple sites.

What We're Looking For

School-based IT experience is essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked directly within a school, academy, MAT or other education environment and understand the demands of supporting technology in this setting.

You should have:

• Proven experience in a school-based IT support or infrastructure role.
• Good knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365.
• Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, switches and Wi-Fi.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience supporting or administering an MIS; Bromcom experience would be highly desirable.
• Experience providing guidance, supervision or mentoring to other IT staff.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to organise your own workload and work across different locations.
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

The Trust can consider candidates who are able to travel between Bolton and Bury, with the Halifax schools supported remotely.
