Post-16 SEN LSA

Pay: £95-£115 per day PAYE, depending on experience

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist SEND school in Barnet, supporting a complex Post-16 class on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an LSA who has experience working with young people with complex additional needs and is confident providing both educational and pastoral support within a specialist setting.

The Role

You will be working as part of a supportive Post-16 team, helping students access learning, develop independence and engage in a range of activities designed to prepare them for adulthood.

The role will involve supporting students with a range of complex needs, so experience within SEND, specialist schools, colleges or complex needs provisions would be highly beneficial.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support within a complex Post-16 classroom
• Supporting students to access their individual learning programmes
• Encouraging communication, independence and life skills
• Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour where required
• Working closely with teachers and other specialist staff
• Supporting students during practical activities and community-based learning
• Assisting with personal care where required
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students
• Following individual support plans and safeguarding procedures

About You

The school is looking for someone who is patient, caring, resilient and confident when working with students with complex needs.

You may have experience working as a:

• Learning Support Assistant
• SEN Teaching Assistant
• Support Worker
• Residential Support Worker
• Youth Worker
• Care Worker
• LSA within a specialist school or college

Experience supporting students with autism, communication difficulties, complex learning needs or challenging behaviour would be advantageous.

Most importantly, you will need to be someone who genuinely enjoys supporting young people and is committed to helping them develop their confidence, independence and life skills.
