Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in the Corby area.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning. The role would suit individuals with experience in education, care, youth work, support work, residential settings, sports coaching or other roles involving the support of children and young people.

The Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement in learning.

You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships whilst supporting them both academically and emotionally throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students

• Supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs

• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people

• Encouraging engagement with learning and school activities

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

• Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and support staff

• Helping students overcome barriers to learning

• Promoting a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment

• Supporting students to develop confidence, independence and resilience

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals

• Have a genuine passion for supporting mental health and wellbeing

• Be patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations

• Have strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Be committed to helping young people achieve positive outcomes

• Be able to work effectively as part of a wider support team

Experience within SEMH, SEND, youth work, residential care, support work, behaviour support, mental health services or alternative provision would be highly beneficial.
