Are you a confident KS1 Teacher with strong SEN experience looking for your next opportunity in St Albans? A welcoming primary school is seeking a committed Year 1 Teacher to join its team as soon as possible.

This is a full-time, long-term temporary position running until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent appointment for the right candidate.

You will be joining a small Year 1 class supported by two Teaching Assistants, giving you additional classroom support to help pupils access learning, develop confidence and make progress.

The Role

  • Take responsibility for planning, delivering and assessing learning across Year 1.

  • Adapt lessons to meet a range of abilities and additional learning needs.

  • Work closely with two supportive TAs to provide an inclusive classroom experience.

  • Establish clear routines, positive relationships and high expectations.

  • Deliver engaging KS1 lessons, including effective phonics teaching.

  • Create a calm, structured environment where pupils feel supported and ready to learn.

Who Should Apply?

The school is looking for a teacher who can hit the ground running and bring both strong classroom practice and a nurturing approach to the role.

You will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Recent Year 1 or KS1 teaching experience.

  • Essential: Previous experience supporting children with SEN.

  • A sound understanding of the KS1 curriculum and Year 1 phonics.

  • Strong behaviour management and classroom organisation.

  • The ability to differentiate learning and respond confidently to individual needs.

  • A collaborative approach to working with TAs, colleagues and school leadership.

  • Availability to start immediately.
