Teaching Assistant - PMLD (Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties)

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a number of specialist SEN schools across East Kent that support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism, physical disabilities and complex medical needs. Due to increased demand, we are looking to recruit caring, reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants for both full-time and part-time positions.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils aged 4-19 in a highly specialist educational environment, helping them to access learning, develop communication skills and achieve their individual goals.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting with communication, sensory activities and personalised learning programmes.
  • Supporting pupils with personal care where required.
  • Encouraging independence, engagement and social development.
  • Working closely with teachers and therapists to provide the best outcomes for pupils.

We're looking for people with:

  • Experience working with children or adults with additional needs, disabilities or complex care needs, or
  • A background in care, support work, healthcare, youth work, residential care or similar roles.
  • A patient, compassionate and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
