Job Description

Cover Supervisor - Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire

A secondary school in Beaconsfield needs dependable classroom support to help lessons continue when teachers are away. If you can give clear instructions and set positive expectations, this general cover role may be worth exploring.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across the secondary curriculum, helping pupils complete the work provided by their teacher. The role may appeal to candidates with experience working with young people or those looking to develop experience in a school.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes during the absence of the regular teacher.

  • Explain the tasks and instructions supplied for each lesson.

  • Encourage pupils to work sensibly and complete the activities set.

  • Maintain appropriate behaviour and a positive classroom atmosphere.

  • Follow school procedures and communicate any issues to the relevant staff.

Requirements

  • Confidence supervising secondary-age pupils.

  • Clear communication and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • A responsible, flexible and reliable approach.

  • No specific teaching qualification, subject specialism or QTS requirement has been confirmed for this vacancy.
