SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs? Do you have experience helping pupils with additional needs to learn, develop and reach their full potential?

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for enthusiastic and caring SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of specialist schools and provisions.

We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Care Workers, Support Workers and anyone with relevant experience supporting individuals with additional needs.

The Role:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.

• Adapt support to meet individual learning, communication and personal care requirements.

• Encourage independence, confidence and social development.

• Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

• Assist with classroom activities and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

• Work alongside teachers and other professionals to support individual EHCP targets.

Experience with the following needs would be particularly beneficial:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC/ASD), including non-verbal autism.

• ADHD and attention difficulties.

• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

• Moderate, Severe and Profound Learning Disabilities (MLD/SLD/PMLD).

• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

• Physical disabilities and complex medical needs.

• Down's Syndrome and other developmental conditions.

• Sensory processing difficulties.

• Challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.

• Communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, Signalong or BSL.

Experience with personal care, PEG feeding, moving and handling or supporting pupils with medical needs would also be advantageous.
